Halloween dates back 2000 years ago to the Celts and their celebration of New Year which was November 1st. On the night before October 31, they believed that the lines between the living and the dead became blurred. The dead were supposed to revisit the earth on this night and cause havoc for the harvests and the food source for the people.

Don't turn the lights completely off, someone is likely to hurt themselves by tripping over.
Make sure you dress up in a costume that matches your scary house. If you have decorated to appear as a ghost house, then the overall effect will be escalated if you create or buy a costume that is ghostlike.
The children can play fun games that they choose prior to the celebration. You could also run a competition to see who can collect the most treats.
The amount of treats that can be made is endless, green iced cupcakes are always a favorite at our place. Chocolate buttons showing the eyes and mouths of ghosts are a winner too. Bobbing apples in a large container always provide plenty of laughs (which Halloween is all about).
